Compound Overview

1-Palmitoyl-2-succinyl-sn-glycerophosphorylcholine is a glycerophosphorylcholine composed of glycerol phosphate, choline and palmitic acid, and it accumulates in vivo at sites of oxidative stress. It may act as a ligand of scavenger receptors class B, whereas oxidized phospholipids such as oxPC(CD36) are potent ligands of scavenger receptors class B (CD36 and SR-BI); oxidized phospholipids (oxPLs) are also reported to play a role in tumor apoptosis and may be elevated in malignant biliary strictures[1][2]. It is supplied as a white to off-white solid (C28H54NO10P, MW 595.70).
