DNA Ladders & Markers

Product Overview

100 bp DNA Ladder (100 bp Ladder DNA Marker) is composed of 12 DNA fragments with a length of 100 bp to 1,500 bp, dissolved in 1× Loading Buffer, and can be loaded directly, 5–10 µL per well, with no further preparation.

The twelve fragments are 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,000, 1,200 and 1,500 bp. The 500 bp indicator band contains 125 ng per 5 µL and every other band contains 50 ng per 5 µL. The marker is ready to use and needs no added loading buffer.

Specifications

Fragment range 100–1,500 bp
Number of bands 12
Band sizes 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,000, 1,200 and 1,500 bp
Reference band(s) 500 bp indicator band at 125 ng per 5 µL; other bands 50 ng per 5 µL
Format Ready-to-use; premixed in 1× Loading Buffer
Recommended load 5–10 µL per well; 5 µL for wells narrower than 5 mm
Recommended gel 2.5%–3% agarose for 100–500 bp; 1.5%–2% agarose for fragments above 500 bp

Applications

  • Sizing of DNA fragments in agarose gel electrophoresis
  • Direct loading as a size reference alongside samples

Key Features

  • Two optimized Loading Buffer dyes are added without blocking the brightness of DNA band fluorescence.

Storage & Handling

Stored at -20°C with a shelf life of two years.

Usage Notes

  • Load 5 µL per run when the sample well is narrower than 5 mm; increase the volume for wider wells.
  • Use 2.5%–3% agarose for fragments expected between 100 and 500 bp, and 1.5%–2% agarose for fragments expected above 500 bp.
  • Agarose purity strongly affects the clarity of DNA bands, so the best quality agarose should be used.
  • Higher agarose concentration improves separation of short DNA fragments, while lower concentration favours separation of long fragments.

Safety & Regulatory

For research use only. Not intended for clinical, diagnostic or therapeutic use. Follow the manufacturer's manual and standard laboratory safety practice.

Q.How should the 100 bp DNA Ladder be stored and how long is the shelf life?
A.The ladder is stored at -20°C and the shelf life is two years.
Q.What does the ladder contain and does loading buffer need to be added?
A.The ladder contains 12 DNA fragments — 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,000, 1,200 and 1,500 bp — already dissolved in 1× Loading Buffer, so no loading buffer is added.
Q.How much DNA is in each band?
A.The 500 bp indicator band contains 125 ng per 5 µL and all other bands contain 50 ng per 5 µL.
Q.How much ladder should be loaded per well?
A.5–10 µL is loaded directly. When the sample well is narrower than 5 mm, 5 µL gives clear bands; for wider wells the volume is increased.
Q.Which agarose gel concentration is recommended?
A.A 2.5%–3% gel is recommended for fragments expected between 100 and 500 bp and a 1.5%–2% gel for fragments expected above 500 bp.
Q.Is this product for research use only?
A.Yes. The manual states that the product is for research use only.
