115-7C is a small molecule that activates the ATPase activity of Hsp70 and promotes substrate refolding. It binds to the IIA subdomain of DnaK and enhances the formation of the DnaK-DnaJ complex. In neurodegenerative disease research, 115-7C is of interest for its role in maintaining proteostasis and preventing protein aggregation. By stimulating Hsp70’s chaperone activity, 115-7C may help mitigate the accumulation of misfolded proteins such as tau and alpha-synuclein, which are central to the pathology of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
