Compound Overview
18:0,22:6 PS sodium is the sodium form of a phosphatidylserine lipid found in rat brain and heart tissues, where it accounts for a considerable proportion of the total phosphatidylserine content. It contains 18:0 and 22:6 n-3 fatty acyl chains and is also used in liposome-preparation research[1][2]. It has the molecular formula C46H77NNaO10P (MW 858.07).

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vivo
In n-3-adequate Long-Evans rat neuronal tissues, 18:0,22:6 PS sodium is the dominant PS molecular species. n-3 fatty acid deficiency causes a dramatic reduction in its endogenous tissue content, and the largest absolute reductions are seen in brain cortex[2].
