Scientific Background
3C protease is a cysteine protease that recognizes the cleavage site of Leu-Glu-Val-Leu-Phe-Gln*Gly-Pro. It used to remove fusion tags from proteins with the HRV 3C cleavage sequence and is dual tagged for easy removal from the sample after cleavage. Activity definition: 1 unit (U) is defined as the amount of enzyme that cleaves at least 95% of the Cleavage Control Fusion Protein (100 μg in 1X HRV 3C Cleavage Buffer) in 16 hours at 4°C.
Product Description
3C Protease is a recombinant enzyme that recognises the LEVLFQ↓GP sequence and removes fusion tags with high specificity. It is produced in E. coli and supplied at >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Typical use is removing affinity tags from recombinant fusion proteins during purification.
