Overview
Click light‑blue chips for details
96-well plates that bind negatively charged proteins for ELISA and protein interaction studies, often keeping the bound protein active. For positively charged proteins, choose the Cationic Protein-Binding Plates. Choose black plates for fluorescence or transparent plates for absorbance detection; each pack contains 4 plates.

Available Options

Select the variant that best fits your experiment. Availability and lead time may vary by option.

  • Options: Color: Black (fluorescence detection) – APP96B, 4 plates; Transparent (absorbance detection) – APP96T, 4 plates
  • Difference between options: both colors have the same binding surface and plate format. Black plates give a low background for fluorescence detection. Transparent plates are for detection by light absorbance.
  • Lead time: options listed in "Availability Content"; other statuses may take longer.
  • Storage: Please contact us to confirm storage conditions.

Binding Plates

Product Overview

The 96-Well Anionic Protein-Binding Plates bind negatively charged proteins. Proteins bound to the plate often keep their native conformation and their catalytic or binding activity, so a second molecule that needs the native structure can still recognize the bound protein.

The plates can be used for ELISA and for studies of protein-protein, protein-peptide, protein-DNA and protein-RNA interactions. The bound second molecule is detected by biochemical, biophysical or immunological methods.

Each pack contains 4 plates. Black plates give a low background for fluorescence detection. Transparent plates are for detection by light absorbance.

Example data: binding signal on a DNA-binding plate (left) and a protein-binding plate (right).

Protocol Outline

  1. Add 200 µl of 0.5-1 mg/ml protein in a low-salt buffer (10 mM buffer, 10 mM NaCl, 0.01% Tween-20, 1 mM EDTA) to each well and incubate at 4°C overnight, then rinse.
  2. Block with 300 µl of blocker for 30 min: 1% BSA when the second molecule is a protein, or 1× Nucleic Acid Binding Blocker when it is a nucleic acid.
  3. Add 200 µl of the second molecule in low-salt buffer and incubate for 1 hour, then rinse.
  4. Detect the bound second molecule, for example by enzyme activity, a fluorescent or radioactive label, or SYBR Green fluorescence (Ex 485 nm / Em 535 nm) for nucleic acids.

The full ProFoldin protocol “Protein-binding Plates” is linked under Documents.

Notes

  • The Nucleic Acid Binding Blocker used for nucleic acid partners is sold separately.
  • The second molecule concentration depends on its binding affinity; about 0.1 mg/ml is typical for proteins, lower for antibodies, and micromolar for DNA oligos.

Safety & Handling

For Research Use Only (RUO). Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Follow standard laboratory safety practices.
Q.What is the difference between the black and transparent options?
A.Both options are packs of 4 plates with the same binding surface and plate format. Black plates give a low background for fluorescence detection. Transparent plates are for detection by light absorbance. Black: APP96B; transparent: APP96T.
Q.What can I study with these plates?
A.ELISA and interactions of a bound negatively charged protein with proteins, peptides, DNA or RNA. Bound proteins often keep their native conformation and activity.
Q.Which blocker should I use?
A.Use 1% BSA in the low-salt buffer when the second molecule is a protein, and 1× Nucleic Acid Binding Blocker (sold separately) when the second molecule is a nucleic acid.
Q.Anionic or cationic plates — which should I choose?
A.Anionic Protein-Binding Plates bind negatively charged proteins; Cationic Protein-Binding Plates bind positively charged proteins. A protein is negatively charged at a buffer pH above its isoelectric point (pI) and positively charged below it, so choose the plate that matches the charge of your protein in the coating buffer.
Q.Is a protocol available?
A.Yes. The ProFoldin protocol “Protein-binding Plates” is linked under Documents.
Q.How is it shipped and stored?
A.Shipped at room temperature. Please contact us to confirm storage conditions.
