Product Overview

Amine Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Conjugation Kit is a Conjugation Kit from Ocean NanoTech.

Ocean NanoTech’s amine functionalized magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SHAs) of various diameters (5 nm-30 nm) are available in an easy-to-use kit format to enable researchers to conjugate antibodies, proteins, peptides or other biomolecules of their own choice to these magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. The kit contains sufficient reagents & components for performing 5 conjugation reactions using 1.25 mg magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles per reaction. Briefly, the magnetic nanoparticles are activated using Sulfo-SMCC (succinimidyl 4-(N-maleimidomethyl) cyclohexane-1-carboxylate) followed by conjugation to thiol groups that are present on the target protein/ligands.

Kit Contents

  • Amine Iron Oxide Nanoparticles: 1 mL
  • Coupling Buffer (CB300): 15 mL

What biomolecules can be conjugated with this kit?

This conjugation kit is optimized for covalent attachment of proteins, antibodies, peptides, and other amine- or carboxyl-containing biomolecules to the nanoparticle surface. The conjugation chemistry exploits EDC/NHS carbodiimide coupling or direct amine coupling depending on the specific kit protocol. Refer to the product data sheet for the list of validated biomolecule types and loading ratios.

What particle size variants are available for this kit?

This kit is available in multiple particle size variants (accessible via the variant selector). Particle size affects hydrodynamic behavior, conjugation efficiency, and downstream assay sensitivity. Smaller particles (10–15 nm) are preferred for solution-phase immunoassays, while larger particles (20–30 nm) may be better suited for lateral flow or magnetic separation applications.

How do I assess conjugation efficiency after completing the protocol?

Conjugation efficiency can be assessed by measuring protein concentration in the pre- and post-conjugation supernatant using a BCA or Bradford assay to estimate the amount of protein immobilized on the nanoparticle surface. Gel electrophoresis, DLS (dynamic light scattering), and functional assays (e.g., antibody binding activity) are recommended for comprehensive conjugate characterization.

What storage conditions are required for conjugated nanoparticles?

Conjugated nanoparticles should be stored in the supplied storage buffer at 2–8°C and protected from light. Avoid freezing, as freeze-thaw cycles can cause irreversible aggregation. Short-term storage at room temperature is acceptable for applications requiring immediate use, but long-term stability should be evaluated under intended storage conditions.
