Compound Overview
Amygdalinic acid by the manufacturer is a glycoside that can be isolated from Persicae Semen. It inhibits Epstein-Barr virus early antigen activation and delays two-stage chemical carcinogenesis in mouse skin, reducing papilloma incidence[1]. It has the molecular formula C20H28O13 and a molecular weight of 476.43 g/mol.

In Vitro
In Raji cells, Amygdalinic acid (10-1000 mol ratio/TPA; 48 h) inhibits EBV-EA activation in a concentration-dependent manner; the strongest inhibition (3.5 ± 0.3% relative control) occurs at 1000 mol ratio/TPA, with 60% cell viability[1].
Immunofluorescence[1]
| Cell Line | Raji cells (Burkitt's lymphoma-derived lymphoblastoid cells) |
|---|---|
| Concentration | 10-1000 mol ratio/TPA |
| Incubation Time | 48 h |
| Result | Reduced EBV-EA activation to 3.5 ± 0.3% relative to the positive control, with 60% Raji cell viability at 1000 mol ratio/TPA. Reduced EBV-EA activation to 34.1 ± 1.2% relative to the positive control, with >80% Raji cell viability at 500 mol ratio/TPA. Reduced EBV-EA activation to 65.0 ± 1.9% relative to the positive control, with >80% Raji cell viability at 100 mol ratio/TPA. Reduced EBV-EA activation to 95.7 ± 0.4% relative to the positive control, with >80% Raji cell viability at 10 mol ratio/TPA. |
In Vivo
In a two-stage skin carcinogenesis mouse model, Amygdalinic acid (85 nmol; twice weekly) exhibits anti-tumor promoting activity and reduces papilloma incidence to a level similar to that seen with (-)-Epigallocatechin gallate[1].
