Product Overview

Clone 22A05 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase, mitochondrial (gene ABAT) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 56.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50 kDa.

4-Aminobutyrate aminotransferase (ABAT, GABA-T) is a mitochondrial enzyme that breaks down the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA to succinate semialdehyde. By controlling GABA levels in the brain it is an important target in neuroscience, and it is inhibited by the antiepileptic drug vigabatrin.

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200
Immunoprecipitation 1:50

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HepG2 cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human ABAT.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion matrix. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Liver > pancreas > brain > kidney > heart > placenta. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Immunoprecipitation 1:50. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 56.4 kDa; observed band at about 50 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human ABAT.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
