Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets retinal-specific phospholipid-transporting ATPase ABCA4 in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 255.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 256–300 kDa.
ABCA4 is an ATP-driven lipid flippase in the disc membranes of photoreceptor outer segments. It moves retinal bound to phosphatidylethanolamine out of the disc lumen so it can be recycled in the visual cycle, preventing toxic buildup. ABCA4 mutations cause Stargardt macular degeneration.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, rat eye tissue, mouse eye tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human ABCA4. It differs from the mouse sequence at eight residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places retinal-specific phospholipid-transporting ATPase ABCA4 in the membrane, endoplasmic reticulum and cytoplasmic vesicle. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Retinal-specific. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
