Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects double-stranded RNA-specific adenosine deaminase (gene ADAR) in human samples and is validated for ICC/IF, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 136.1 kDa; the supplier reports observed bands at 110 kDa, 150 kDa.
ADAR1 (ADAR) is an RNA-editing enzyme that converts adenosine to inosine in double-stranded RNA. By editing the cell's own RNAs it prevents them from being sensed as viral, damping type I interferon responses, and its loss causes Aicardi-Goutières syndrome.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human) |
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HeLa cells, A549 cells, MCF-7 cells, HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human lung cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Immunogen
Recombinant human ADAR1 fragment (Ser128–Gln346), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 90.2% and 50.7%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitously expressed, highest levels were found in brain and lung. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
