Product Overview

Clone 26A42 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes adenosylhomocysteinase (gene AHCY) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 47.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 48 kDa.

Adenosylhomocysteinase (AHCY) hydrolyzes S-adenosylhomocysteine, the by-product of SAM-dependent methylation reactions, into adenosine and homocysteine. Because S-adenosylhomocysteine inhibits methyltransferases, AHCY activity supports cellular methylation capacity and is studied in one-carbon metabolism and epigenetics.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): A549 cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of AHCY.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places adenosylhomocysteinase in the cytoplasm, melanosome, nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
