Product Overview
Clone AHA-1 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (gene ALDH1A1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 54.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50 kDa.
ALDH1A1 is a cytosolic aldehyde dehydrogenase that oxidizes retinaldehyde to retinoic acid and also detoxifies many other aldehydes using NAD+. High ALDH activity, largely from ALDH1A1, is used to identify stem and progenitor cells, and the enzyme is studied in retinoid signaling, drug resistance and cancer stem cell biology.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human A549 cells, rat kidney tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human liver cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human ALDH1A1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 in the cytoplasm and cell projection. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed by erythrocytes (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
