Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects aldehyde dehydrogenase family 1 member B1, mitochondrial (gene ALDH1B1) in human, monkey, mouse and rat samples and is validated for flow cytometry, ICC/IF, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 57.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.
ALDH1B1 is a mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase that uses NAD+ to oxidize a range of aldehydes. It can help detoxify acetaldehyde from alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation products such as 4-hydroxynonenal, and it is studied in aldehyde detoxification and colon and pancreatic biology.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human K562 cells, human A431 cells, human A549 cells, human U2OS cells, human HeLa cells, monkey COS-7 cells, rat liver tissue, rat testis tissue, rat RH35 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): HEL cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human ALDH1B1. It differs from the mouse sequence at one residue and from the rat sequence at two residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, monkey, mouse and rat. UniProt places aldehyde dehydrogenase family 1 member B1, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion matrix. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Liver, testis and to a lesser extent in brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
