Product Overview
Clone AFOI-1 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes aldehyde dehydrogenase, mitochondrial (gene ALDH2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 56.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 140 kDa.
ALDH2 is the mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase chiefly responsible for oxidizing acetaldehyde produced from ethanol, and it also removes aldehydes from lipid peroxidation. The common ALDH2*2 variant in East Asian populations reduces activity and causes alcohol flushing, so ALDH2 is studied in alcohol metabolism, oxidative stress and cardiovascular protection.
