Overview
Anti-ALDH7A1 Polyclonal Antibody targets ALDH7A1 (Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 7 member A1). Commonly used in ELISA, IHC, WB workflows. Research contexts include Molecular & Cellular Biology.
Also known as: Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 7 member A1, ALDH7A1, Delta1-piperideine-6-carboxylate dehydrogenase, Antiquitin-1, P6c dehydrogenase, Alpha-AASA dehydrogenase, Alpha-aminoadipic semialdehyde dehydrogenase, Betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase, ATQ1.
Target biology
ALDH7A1 (aldehyde dehydrogenase 7A1; also called antiquitin) is a metabolic enzyme involved in lysine degradation and detoxification of reactive aldehydes. Disruption of ALDH7A1 function is associated with pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy due to accumulation of lysine-pathway intermediates. ALDH7A1 is therefore a useful marker in metabolism and cellular stress-response studies. Common names in the literature include: Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 7 member A1, ALDH7A1, Delta1-piperideine-6-carboxylate dehydrogenase, Antiquitin-1, P6c dehydrogenase, Alpha-AASA dehydrogenase. Typical localization reported for this class of target is cytosol and/or mitochondria (metabolic compartments).
How this antibody helps
As a polyclonal reagent, this antibody can provide enhanced sensitivity through multi-epitope recognition. Use it to profile target expression and localization and to compare signal across conditions with matched controls.
Antigen / immunogen context
E. coli - derived recombinant Human ALDH7A1 (Met1-Gln539).
Recommended experimental notes
- Titrate the antibody to optimize signal-to-noise for your specific sample type and detection system.
- Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., target-high vs target-low samples, KO/KD where available).
- For Western blotting, include fresh protease inhibitors and confirm the dominant band at the expected molecular weight; additional bands may reflect isoforms or processing.
- For IHC, optimize fixation and antigen retrieval (buffer/pH/heat) and include isotype/secondary-only controls to assess background.
- For ELISA, optimize coating/capture conditions and validate dynamic range with appropriate standards or reference samples.
