Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase catalytic subunit alpha-1 (gene PRKAA1) in human, monkey, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 64.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 64–66 kDa.
AMPK α1 (PRKAA1) is one of the two catalytic subunits of AMP-activated protein kinase, the cell's main energy sensor. When ATP falls, AMPK phosphorylates enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase and HMG-CoA reductase to switch off lipid and protein synthesis and switch on energy-producing pathways, so it is central to metabolism and diabetes research.

Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): SiHa cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human AMPK alpha 1/PRKAA1 fragment (Asp359–Pro539), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, monkey, mouse and rat. UniProt places 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase catalytic subunit alpha-1 in the cytoplasm, nucleus and late endosome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
