The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence in the middle region of human ANGPTL2, different from the related mouse sequence by one amino acid.
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 60-65 kDa; calculated MW: 57104 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: IHC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Angiopoietin-related protein 2; Angiopoietin-related protein 2. Angiopoietin-related protein 2, also known as angiopoietin-like protein 2, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ANGPTL2 gene. Angiopoietins are members of the vascular endothelial growth factor family and the only known growth factors largely specific for vascular endothelium. Angiopoietin-1, angiopoietin-2, and angiopoietin-4 participate in the formation of blood vessels. ANGPTL2 protein is a secreted glycoprotein with homology to the angiopoietins and may exert a function on endothelial cells through autocrine or paracrine action. Functional note: Induces sprouting in endothelial cells through an autocrine and paracrine action. Reported localization: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: Widely expressed in heart, small intestine, spleen and stomach. Also found in lower levels in colon, ovary, adrenal gland, skeletal muscle and in prostate.

Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative ANGPTL2 (Angiopoietin-related protein 2) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of ANGPTL2 (Angiopoietin-related protein 2) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
