Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects apelin (gene APLN) in human samples and is validated for IHC and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 8.6 kDa.
Apelin (APLN) is a small peptide hormone that binds and activates the G protein-coupled apelin receptor (APJ). Signaling through both Gi proteins and β-arrestin, it lowers cAMP levels and activates ERK, and it is studied for its roles in cardiovascular homeostasis, blood vessel formation and fluid balance.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human cervical cancer tissue, human liver cancer tissue, human lung cancer tissue, human adenocarcinoma of the right colon tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes apelin as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the brain with highest levels in the frontal cortex, thalamus, hypothalamus and midbrain.
