Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes apolipoprotein A-I (gene Apoa1) in rat samples and is validated for IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 30.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 24 kDa.
Apolipoprotein A-I (APOA1) is the main protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It helps remove excess cholesterol from peripheral tissues and carry it to the liver, and it activates lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT), which esterifies cholesterol within HDL particles. APOA1 is widely measured in studies of lipid metabolism and cardiovascular health.

Validated Applications
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Rat) |
|---|---|
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Rat) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat liver tissue, rat testis tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat liver tissue, rat kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Recombinant rat APOA1 fragment (Asp25–Ala259), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and mouse orthologs: 61.7% and 68.6%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt describes apolipoprotein A-I as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (rat): Major protein of plasma HDL, also found in chylomicrons. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
