Product Overview
Clone AbA15 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes apolipoprotein E (gene APOE) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 36.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 36 kDa.
Apolipoprotein E (APOE) is a lipid-binding protein that mediates the transport of cholesterol and other lipids between tissues. Acting as a ligand for the LDL receptor family, it directs the clearance of lipoprotein remnants and is the main apolipoprotein in the brain. Its common isoforms (E2, E3, E4) are widely studied in lipid metabolism and Alzheimer's disease.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human K562 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human apolipoprotein E.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt describes apolipoprotein E as secreted and also located in the extracellular vesicle and endosome. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Produced by several tissues and cell types and mainly found associated with lipid particles in the plasma, the interstitial fluid and lymph. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
