Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects aromatase (gene CYP19A1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 57.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 58 kDa.
Aromatase (CYP19A1) is the cytochrome P450 enzyme that converts androgens into estrogens, turning androstenedione into estrone and testosterone into estradiol. It is expressed in the ovary, placenta, adipose tissue, bone and brain, and it is the target of aromatase inhibitors used in breast cancer, so it is central to studies of estrogen biology and hormone-dependent cancers.

Validated Applications
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human placenta tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human aromatase.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places aromatase in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and microsome membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed, including in adult and fetal brain, placenta, skin fibroblasts, adipose tissue and gonads. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
