Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of ATF1 (Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-1) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-ATF1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9130. Tested in Flow Cytometry, ICC/IF, IHC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E.coli-derived human ATF1 recombinant protein (Position: M1-V271). Human ATF1 shares 91% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse ATF1. (reported region: M1-V271).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 38 kDa; calculated MW: 29233 MW
  • Reactivity: Human
  • Applications: Flow Cytometry, ICC/IF, IHC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-1; Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-1. ATF1, also known as activating transcription factor 1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ATF1 gene. It is mapped to 12q13.12. This gene encodes an activating transcription factor, which belongs to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It influences cellular physiologic processes by regulating the expression of downstream target genes, which are related to growth, survival, and other cellular activities. This protein is phosphorylated at serine 63 in its kinase-inducible domain by serine/threonine kinases, cAMP-dependent protein kinase A, calmodulin-dependent protein kinase I/II, mitogen- and stress-activated protein kinase and cyclin-dependent kinase 3 (cdk-3). Its phosphorylation enhances its transactivation and transcriptional activities, and enhances cell transformation. Functional note: This protein binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus: 5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. Binds to the Tax-responsive element (TRE) of HTLV-I. Mediates PKA-induced stimulation of CRE-reporter genes. Represses the expression of FTH1 and other antioxidant detoxification genes. Triggers cell proliferation and transformation. . Reported localization: Nucleus. Expression/tissue context: Ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels in lung, kidney, heart, gastrointestinal system and prostate. Isoform Testis-specific is expressed in spermatocytes and adult testis. .

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative ATF1 (Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-1) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of ATF1 (Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-1) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Family / similarity context: Belongs to the bZIP family. ATF subfamily.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
