Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-6 alpha (gene ATF6) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 74.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 90–100 kDa.
Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-6 alpha (ATF6) is an ER membrane protein that senses the buildup of misfolded proteins. Under ER stress it moves to the Golgi, where proteases release its cytosolic bZIP domain, which enters the nucleus to activate chaperones and other unfolded protein response genes.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human 293T whole cellhuman K562 whole cellhuman MCF-7 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): SiHa cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): SiHa cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human ATF6 fragment (Gln79–Gln670), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-6 alpha in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and Golgi apparatus membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
