Overview
Anti-ATG9A Antibody Picoband® is an antibody for ATG9A detection raised in Rabbit (Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG), with reported reactivity: Human,Mouse. Commonly used in WB, IHC, IF, ICC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA workflows.
Key elements and design rationale
- Target: ATG9A (solute carrier family 5 member 2); UniProt: Q7Z3C6
- Antibody format: Rabbit, Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG
- Molecular weight: 94 kDa
- Applications: WB, IHC, IF, ICC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA
Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-ATG9A Antibody catalog # A03757-2.
Biological background
Biological context: Sodium-dependent glucose transporter. Has a Na+ to glucose coupling ratio of 1:1. Efficient substrate transport in mammalian kidney is provided by the concerted action of a low affinity high capacity and a high affinity low capacity Na+/glucose cotransporter arranged in series along kidney proximal tubules.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Membrane. Multi-pass membrane protein..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare ATG9A levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of ATG9A in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify ATG9A-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Autophagy-related protein 9A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ATG9A gene. ATG9A is the only transmembrane ATG protein essential for autophagy. It plays a key role in the organization of the preautophagosomal structure/phagophore assembly site (PAS). It has been reported that ATG9A expression is increased in oral squamous cell carcinoma and breast cancers. The inhibition of ATG9A can lead to an inhibition of cancer cell proliferation and invasion.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Membrane. Multi-pass membrane protein.
- Research category: Cancer,Channels,Metabolism,Plasma Membrane,Signal Transduction
