Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B (gene TNFSF13B) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 31.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 31 kDa.
BAFF (TNFSF13B, BLyS) is a TNF family cytokine that is essential for the survival and maturation of B cells. It signals through the BAFF receptor, TACI and BCMA, the last two also binding APRIL, and it shapes both B- and T-cell responses. Excess BAFF is associated with autoimmune conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus, making it a key research target.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat kidney tissue, rat spleen tissue, mouse spleen tissue, human placenta tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant human BAFF fragment (Ala134–Leu285), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse ortholog: 86.1%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Abundantly expressed in peripheral blood Leukocytes and is specifically expressed in monocytes and macrophages. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
