Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of CXCL13 (C-X-C motif chemokine 13) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-BCA1/CXCL13 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9697. Tested in WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human BCA1 recombinant protein (Position: V23-P109). Human BCA1 shares 45.3% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse BCA1. (reported region: V23-P109).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 13 kDa; calculated MW: 12664 MW
  • Reactivity: Human
  • Applications: WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

C-X-C motif chemokine 13; C-X-C motif chemokine 13. C-X-C motif chemokine 13 (CXCL13), also known as B lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CXCL13 gene. CXCL13 is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. Its gene is mapped to human chromosome 4 in a cluster of other CXC chemokines. This protein has contained 109 amino acids. It is expressed highly in the liver, spleen, lymph nodes and gut of humans. The protein induces chemotaxis of BLR1-expressing B cells. Functional note: Chemotactic for B-lymphocytes but not for T-lymphocytes, monocytes and neutrophils. Does not induce calcium release in B- lymphocytes. Binds to BLR1/CXCR5. Reported localization: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: Highest levels in liver, followed by spleen, lymph node, appendix and stomach. Low levels in salivary gland, mammary gland and fetal spleen.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Angiogenesis: Researchers commonly examine how CXCL13 (C-X-C motif chemokine 13) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cancer: Researchers commonly examine how CXCL13 (C-X-C motif chemokine 13) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Chemokines: Researchers commonly examine how CXCL13 (C-X-C motif chemokine 13) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative CXCL13 (C-X-C motif chemokine 13) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.

We are currently using anti-BCA1/CXCL13 antibody PB9697 for human tissue, and we are content with the ELISA results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human. Is it possible that the antibody can work on canine tissues as well?
The anti-BCA1/CXCL13 antibody (PB9697) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with canine tissues, though there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in canine you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
We appreciate helping with my inquiry over the phone. Here are the WB image, lot number and protocol we used for skeletal muscle using anti-BCA1/CXCL13 antibody PB9697. Let me know if you need anything else.
Thank you for the data. You have provided everything we needed. Our lab team are working to resolve your inquiry as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience and understanding! Please let me know if there is anything you need in the meantime.
