Product Overview
Clone 31B78 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes bcl-2-like protein 1 (gene BCL2L1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 26.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 26 kDa.
Bcl-xL (BCL2L1) is an anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein that binds pro-apoptotic partners such as BAX, BAK and BH3-only proteins to prevent mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization. Alternative splicing produces the pro-apoptotic Bcl-xS isoform. Bcl-xL is important for survival of many cell types, including platelets and neurons, and is a target of BH3-mimetic drugs.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human bcl-XL.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Bcl-X(S) is expressed at high levels in cells that undergo a high rate of turnover, such as developing lymphocytes.
