Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects neurotrophic factor BDNF precursor form in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 27.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 37 kDa.
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a neurotrophin secreted as proBDNF and processed to mature BDNF, which signals mainly through the TrkB receptor (NTRK2). It supports survival and differentiation of neurons during development and regulates synaptic plasticity, learning and memory in the adult brain, making it a common target in neuroscience and psychiatry research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue, MCF-7 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of at the N-terminal of human BDNF. The peptide sequence is conserved in rat and mouse.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes neurotrophic factor BDNF precursor form as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in blood plasma and in saliva (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
