Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes beclin-1 (gene BECN1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 51.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 60 kDa.
Beclin-1 (BECN1) is a core subunit of the class III phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (VPS34) complex, which generates phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate to start autophagosome formation. It also functions in endocytic trafficking, and its activity is controlled by binding partners such as Bcl-2. Beclin-1 is a widely used marker in autophagy research.

Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): HeLa cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Raji cells.
Samples with a confirmed result (IP): MCF-7 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Beclin 1 fragment (Met1–Ser354), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 97%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places beclin-1 in the cytoplasm, endosome membrane, endoplasmic reticulum membrane and mitochondrion membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
