Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: ADRB2 (Beta-2 adrenergic receptor).
  • Antibody format: Monoclonal; clone AE-1; isotype Rabbit IgG.
  • Host: Rabbit.
  • Species reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat (confirm in your model system with appropriate controls).

This description is intended to help interpret the antibody design and the biological context of the target using the fields provided in the catalog record, alongside general experimental considerations.

Biological background

ADRB2 (protein: P2X purinoceptor 1) is a commonly studied target in molecular and cellular biology. Functional context (as provided): Beta-adrenergic receptors mediate the catecholamine- induced activation of adenylate cyclase through the action of G proteins. The beta-2-adrenergic receptor binds epinephrine with an approximately 30-fold greater affinity than it does norepinephrine. Reported cellular localization context: Cell membrane ; Multi-pass membrane protein . Colocalizes with VHL at the cell membrane. Tissue expression notes (as provided): Brain, placenta and gonads. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Research context keywords from the source record include: Cancer,Cardiovascular,Cytochromes,Drug Metabolism,Growth Factors/Hormones,Lipases,Lipid and Lipoprotein Metabolism,Lipid Metabolism,Lipids/Lipoproteins,Metabolic Signaling Pathways,Metabolism,Mitochondrial Metabolism,Pathways and Processes,Signal Transduction.
  • Current studies often focus on connecting target abundance/localization to pathway perturbations across models, tissues, and cell states.
  • Quantitative and multiplexed assays (e.g., imaging + immunoblot panels) are commonly used to compare phenotypes across conditions and time-courses.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): assess relative target abundance across samples, treatments, or time-points.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): evaluate spatial distribution of target-positive staining in tissue architecture.
  • Immunoprecipitation (IP): enrich target complexes for downstream immunoblot or interaction analyses.

Workflow ideas (metafield): Validate ADRB2 antibody specificity using KO/KD control samples (WB/IF/IHC as appropriate), Detect ADRB2 expression by Western blot in cell or tissue lysates, Detect ADRB2 in FFPE tissue sections by immunohistochemistry, Enrich ADRB2 by immunoprecipitation from lysates for downstream analysis

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms and post-translational modifications (PTMs) that may shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Apparent molecular weight may vary by sample type and processing (observed MW: 25 kDa; calculated MW: 46459 MW).
  • Control concepts: include appropriate negative controls (e.g., isotype, KO/KD samples) and orthogonal validation when feasible.

Additional product details (from the source record)

  • Molecular weight (observed): 25 kDa
  • Cellular localization (provided): Cell membrane ; Multi-pass membrane protein . Colocalizes with VHL at the cell membrane.
  • Tissue details (provided): Brain, placenta and gonads. .

My colleagues were happy with the WB result of your anti-beta 2 Adrenergic Receptor Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. However we have been able to see positive staining in fetal brain cell membrane using this antibody. Is that expected? Could you tell me where is ADRB2 supposed to be expressed?
From literature, fetal brain does express ADRB2. Generally ADRB2 expresses in cell membrane. Regarding which tissues have ADRB2 expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues: Blood, Pubmed ID: 11246467 Brain, Pubmed ID: 3026848, 14702039 Embryonic kidney, Pubmed ID: 17525332 Fetal brain, Leukocyte, and Prostate, Pubmed ID: 15489334
