Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes beta-2-microglobulin (gene B2m) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 13.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 13 kDa.
β2-microglobulin (B2M) is the invariant light chain of MHC class I molecules and is needed for their folding and display on the cell surface. It is therefore essential for presenting peptide antigens to CD8+ T cells. B2M is also measured in serum and urine as a marker of kidney function and certain blood cancers.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat thymus tissue, rat lung tissue, rat spleen tissue, rat stomach tissue, rat small intestine tissue, mouse thymus tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.25 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): HEPA1–6 cells, NRK cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): RH35 cells.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt describes beta-2-microglobulin as a secreted protein. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
