Product Overview
Clone CEA-2 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes beta-2-microglobulin (gene B2M) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 13.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 12 kDa.
β2-microglobulin (B2M) is the invariant light chain of MHC class I molecules and is needed for their folding and display on the cell surface. It is therefore essential for presenting peptide antigens to CD8+ T cells. B2M is also measured in serum and urine as a marker of kidney function and certain blood cancers.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human U937 cells, human U251 cells, human THP-1 cells, human RT4 cells, rat liver tissue, rat RH35 cells, mouse liver tissue, mouse HEPA1–6 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1: 500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes beta-2-microglobulin as secreted and also located in the cell surface. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
