Overview
Anti-BEX3 Antibody Picoband® is an antibody for BEX3 detection raised in Rabbit (Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG), with reported reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat. Commonly used in WB, IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA workflows.
Key elements and design rationale
- Target: BEX3 (one cut homeobox 2); UniProt: Q00994
- Antibody format: Rabbit, Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG
- Molecular weight: 28 kDa
- Applications: WB, IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA
Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-BEX3 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A09675-2.
Biological background
Biological context: Transcriptional activator. Activates the transcription of a number of liver genes such as HNF3B.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Nucleus., tissue context: Predominantly expressed in testis and placenta as well as in many cell lines, including epithelial cell lines..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare BEX3 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of BEX3 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify BEX3-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Protein BEX3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NGFRAP1 gene. NGFRAP1 (nerve growth factor receptor associated protein 1), also called BEX3 (brain-expressed X-linked protein 3), NADE (p75NTR-associated death executor) or FAP-1 (Fas-associated phosphatase-1), is a 24 kDa member of the BEX protein family. A nuclear export signal (aa 77-87) allows NGFRAP1 to export bound p75NTR. It is widely expressed, but highest in ovarian granulosa cells, testis, prostate, seminal vesicle and liver. Except for a 13-19 amino acid (aa) rodent Arg/His region at aa 35 that is not found in humans, human NGFRAP1 shares 94% aa identity with mouse and rat NGFRAP1. In humans, a 101 aa isoform with an alternative start site at aa 11 has been described.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Nucleus.
- Tissue details: Predominantly expressed in testis and placenta as well as in many cell lines, including epithelial cell lines.
- Research category: Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Transcription,Transcription Factors
