Product Overview
Clone ABIG-2 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein 2 (gene BIRC2) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 69.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 70 kDa.
cIAP1 (BIRC2) is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family with BIR domains and a RING E3 ubiquitin ligase domain. It ubiquitinates RIPK1 and other partners in TNF receptor signaling to promote NF-κB activation and cell survival and to limit cell death. cIAP1 is degraded by SMAC mimetics, which are studied as anticancer agents.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human 293T cells, human HepG2 cells, human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat brain tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human BIRC2.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt places baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein 2 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Present in many fetal and adult tissues. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
