Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects bone morphogenetic protein 4 (gene BMP4) in human and mouse samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 46.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 46 kDa.
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) is a TGF-β superfamily growth factor that activates SMAD1/5/8 through BMP receptors. It patterns the early embryo, including ventral mesoderm and epidermal fates, and regulates bone, kidney, lung and tooth development, and it is widely used to direct stem cell differentiation in culture.

Validated Applications
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse) |
|---|---|
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse lung tissue, mouse liver tissue, HEPA cells, HepG2 cells, HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human BMP-4. It differs from the mouse and rat sequences at two residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the lung and lower levels seen in the kidney. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
