Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-2 (gene BMPR2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 115.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 150 kDa.
BMPR2 is the type II serine/threonine kinase receptor for bone morphogenetic proteins. It binds ligand together with type I receptors and phosphorylates them to activate SMAD1/5/8 signaling. BMPR2 has a long C-terminal tail, and heterozygous mutations are the most common genetic cause of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat heart tissue, mouse heart tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): THP-1 cells.

Recombinant human BMPR2 fragment (Gln28–Leu1038), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-2 in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in heart and liver. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
