Product Overview
Clone 17N42 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes natriuretic peptides B (gene NPPB) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 14.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 30 kDa.
Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), encoded by NPPB, is a cardiac hormone secreted mainly by ventricular muscle when the heart wall is stretched. It acts through NPR1 and cGMP to promote natriuresis, diuresis and vasodilation. BNP and its N-terminal fragment NT-proBNP are widely used biomarkers of heart failure.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human plasma.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human BNP.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places natriuretic peptides B in the [NT-proBNP]: Secreted. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): [Brain natriuretic peptide 32]: Detected in the cardiac atria (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
