Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-BRD4 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A00123-3.

Biological background

Biological context: Acts as a ligand for FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Also acts as an integrin ligand which is required for FGF2 signaling. Binds to integrin ITGAV:ITGB3. Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, cell differentiation and cell migration. Functions as a potent mitogen in vitro. Can induce angiogenesis.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Nucleus. Secreted., tissue context: Expressed in granulosa and cumulus cells. Expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, but not in non- cancerous liver tissue..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare BRD4 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of BRD4 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify BRD4-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: Bromodomain-containing protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BRD4 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is homologous to the murine protein MCAP, which associates with chromosomes during mitosis, and to the human RING3 protein, a serine/threonine kinase. Each of these proteins contains two bromodomains, a conserved sequence motif which may be involved in chromatin targeting. This gene has been implicated as the chromosome 19 target of translocation t(15;19)(q13;p13.1), which defines an upper respiratory tract carcinoma in young people. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Nucleus. Secreted.
  • Tissue details: Expressed in granulosa and cumulus cells. Expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, but not in non- cancerous liver tissue.
  • Research category: Angiogenesis,Cancer,Cardiovascular,Developmental Biology,Growth Factors,Growth Factors/Hormones,Invasion/Microenvironment,Neural Stem Cells,Neurogenesis,Neurology Process,Neuroscience,Organogenesis,Signal Transduction,Stem Cells
