Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (gene Ccr5) in mouse samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 40.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 60 kDa.

CCR5 is a G protein-coupled chemokine receptor for CCL3, CCL4 and CCL5 that guides T cells and macrophages to sites of inflammation. It is also the main co-receptor for R5 strains of HIV-1, and the natural CCR5-Δ32 deletion protects against infection, making it a central target in HIV and immunology research.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse thymus tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the middle region of mouse CCR5.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with mouse. UniProt places C-C chemokine receptor type 5 in the cell membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Mouse. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 40.8 kDa; observed band at about 60 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide from the middle region of mouse CCR5.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
