Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes C-reactive protein (gene Crp) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for ELISA, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 25.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 25 kDa.
C-reactive protein (CRP) is a pentameric plasma protein made by the liver whose levels rise sharply during inflammation, largely under IL-6 control. It binds phosphocholine on microbes and damaged cells in a Ca2+-dependent way and activates complement, and it is a classic marker of the acute-phase response.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat spleen tissue, rat brain tissue, rat thymus tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): mouse kidney tissue, rat kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse Crp fragment (His20–Ser225), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 71.9% and 72.7%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt describes C-reactive protein as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Found in plasma. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
