Product Overview

Clone 19C24 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes C4b-binding protein beta chain (gene C4BPB) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 28.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 45 kDa.

C4BPB is the beta chain of C4b-binding protein, a plasma regulator of the classical complement pathway. C4BP acts as a cofactor for factor I in cleaving C4b and speeds the decay of the C3 convertase, limiting complement activation. The beta chain also binds anticoagulant protein S, linking complement control to coagulation.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt describes C4b-binding protein beta chain as a secreted protein. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200; Immunoprecipitation 1:60. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 28.4 kDa; observed band at about 45 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human C4 binding protein.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
