Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-CACNA1S Antibody Picoband® catalog # A03006-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Major glycoprotein of vascular endothelium. Involved in the regulation of angiogenesis. May play a critical role in the binding of endothelial cells to integrins and/or other RGD receptors. Acts as TGF-beta coreceptor and is involved in the TGF- beta/BMP signaling cascade. Required for GDF2/BMP9 signaling through SMAD1 in endothelial cells.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare CACNA1S levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of CACNA1S in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify CACNA1S-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Cav1.1 also known as the calcium channel, voltage-dependent, L type, alpha 1S subunit, (CACNA1S), is a protein which in humans is encoded by the CACNA1S gene. This gene encodes one of the five subunits of the slowly inactivating L-type voltage-dependent calcium channel in skeletal muscle cells. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hypokalemic periodic paralysis, thyrotoxic periodic paralysis and malignant hyperthermia susceptibility.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
- Research category: Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Neurogenesis,Neurology Process,Neuroscience,Transcription
