Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets calcitonin (gene Calca) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 15.1 kDa.
CALCA encodes calcitonin gene-related peptide 1 (αCGRP), produced by alternative splicing of the calcitonin gene in sensory and central neurons. CGRP is a powerful vasodilator acting through the CALCRL–RAMP1 receptor and a key mediator of neurogenic inflammation and pain signaling. It is a major target in migraine research.

Validated Applications
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL |
|---|
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): mouse brain tissue, rat brain tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of mouse calcitonin. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 90.6% and 96.9%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes calcitonin as a secreted protein.
