Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Calponin 2/CNN2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A08680-2.
Biological background
Biological context: This protein is an anticoagulant protein that acts as an in inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex, which is involved in the blood coagulation cascade.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction, gap junction., tissue context: Ubiquitously expressed..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare CNN2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of CNN2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify CNN2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Calponin 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CNN2 gene. The protein encoded by this gene, which can bind actin, calmodulin, troponin C, and tropomyosin, may function in the structural organization of actin filaments. The encoded protein could play a role in smooth muscle contraction and cell adhesion. Several pseudogenes of this gene have been identified, and are present on chromosomes 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 21 and 22. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction, gap junction.
- Tissue details: Ubiquitously expressed.
