Product Overview
Anti-Candida albicans HSP90 Polyclonal Antibody is an affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against HSP90 (heat shock protein 90 homolog) of Candida albicans. It is supplied unconjugated in liquid form and is validated by the manufacturer for ELISA, immunohistochemistry and Western blot.
Hsp90 is an essential, ATP-dependent molecular chaperone that promotes the maturation, structural maintenance and regulation of client proteins involved in cell cycle control and signal transduction. In C. albicans the chaperone additionally governs the yeast-to-hypha morphogenetic switch and underpins tolerance to azole and echinocandin antifungals, which is why fungal Hsp90 is studied both as a virulence determinant and as an antifungal target. Hsp90 is also an immunodominant antigen during invasive candidiasis - the antibody response to it is the basis of the anti-Hsp90 therapeutic antibody fragment efungumab - so reagents that detect the fungal chaperone are used in seroreactivity, host-pathogen interaction and antifungal mechanism studies.
Validated Applications
| Application | Recommended dilution |
|---|---|
| ELISA | 1:5,000 – 1:20,000 |
| Immunohistochemistry (IHC) | 1:50 – 1:500 |
| Western blot (WB) | 1:500 – 1:2,000 |
Dilutions are manufacturer starting points. Titrate for each sample type, fixation method and detection system, and run an uninfected or fungus-free control alongside the test sample.

Immunogen & Antigen
The antiserum was raised against an E. coli-derived recombinant C. albicans HSP90 spanning Met1–Asp707. UniProt P46598 is 707 residues ending at Asp707, so the immunogen covers the complete protein, and the antiserum was then purified on an antigen affinity column - the antibody pool is therefore enriched for antibodies recognising epitopes distributed across the whole chaperone rather than a single domain.
The manufacturer’s Western blot figure was run against the matching recombinant antigen (catalogue JN043012), not a native fungal lysate, so the band position reflects that recombinant construct. Confirm the apparent size in your own system before using it as an identity criterion.
Reactivity Notes
Manufacturer-stated reactivity is limited to Candida albicans. Reactivity with C. auris, C. glabrata or other Candida species is not claimed and should be confirmed in-house before use in a cross-species comparison.
Hsp90 is one of the most highly conserved proteins in eukaryotes, so a polyclonal raised against the full-length fungal chaperone can in principle recognise host Hsp90 as well. The manufacturer does not report a host cross-reactivity test, so for infected-tissue IHC or lysate Western blots include an uninfected host sample as a control before attributing signal to fungal HSP90.
Safety & Handling
The formulation contains 0.05% Proclin 300, a preservative that is harmful on contact — handle with gloves and avoid skin and eye exposure. The 50% glycerol content means the product does not freeze solid at -20 °C; aliquot before long-term storage and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
