Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes carbonic anhydrase 13 (gene CA13) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 29.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 29 kDa.
Carbonic anhydrase 13 (CA13) is a cytosolic zinc enzyme that interconverts carbon dioxide and bicarbonate. Like other active carbonic anhydrases, it contributes to acid–base balance and metabolic processes that depend on bicarbonate, and it is expressed in several tissues including the gut and reproductive organs.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 2–5 µg/mL (Human) |
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human Caco-2 cells, human U87 cells, human K562 cells, human HeLa cells, rat intestines tissue, mouse NTH/3T3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human liver cancer tissue, human melanoma tissue, human placenta tissue, human ovarian cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): Hep cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Caco-2 cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human carbonic Anhydrase 13/CA13. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 85% and 55%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places carbonic anhydrase 13 in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in thymus, small intestine, spleen, prostate, ovary, colon and testis. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
