Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes carbonic anhydrase 3 (gene CA3) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 29.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 30 kDa.
Carbonic anhydrase 3 (CA3) is a cytosolic carbonic anhydrase with comparatively low CO2 hydration activity. It is especially abundant in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue and is thought to help protect cells against oxidative stress, so it is studied in muscle physiology and as a muscle damage marker.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human THP-1 cells, rat liver tissue, rat fat tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse fat tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat skeletal muscle tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human CA3. It differs from the mouse and rat sequences at two residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places carbonic anhydrase 3 in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Muscle specific. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
