Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of CPM (Carboxypeptidase M) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-Carboxypeptidase M/CPM Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01650. Tested in Flow Cytometry, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human CPM, different from the related mouse sequence by two amino acids.
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 65 kDa; calculated MW: 50514 MW
  • Reactivity: Human
  • Applications: Flow Cytometry, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Carboxypeptidase M; Carboxypeptidase M. CPM, mapped to 12q15, is known as Carboxypeptidase M. The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound arginine/lysine carboxypeptidase. Its expression is associated with monocyte to macrophage differentiation. This encoded protein contains hydrophobic regions at the amino and carboxy termini and has 6 potential asparagine-linked glycosylation sites. The active site residues of carboxypeptidases A and B are conserved in this protein. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for this gene. Functional note: Specifically removes C-terminal basic residues (Arg or Lys) from peptides and proteins. It is believed to play important roles in the control of peptide hormone and growth factor activity at the cell surface, and in the membrane-localized degradation of extracellular proteins. . Reported localization: Cell membrane ; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor . Expression/tissue context: Four different transcripts were found to be expressed in a distinct tissue distribution.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Lipid Signaling: Researchers commonly examine how CPM (Carboxypeptidase M) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Signal Transduction: Researchers commonly examine how CPM (Carboxypeptidase M) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Signaling Pathway: Researchers commonly examine how CPM (Carboxypeptidase M) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative CPM (Carboxypeptidase M) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
