Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes fatty acid-binding protein, heart (gene Fabp3) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 14.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 15 kDa.

Heart fatty acid-binding protein (FABP3, H-FABP) is a small cytosolic protein abundant in cardiac and skeletal muscle. It carries long-chain fatty acids to sites of oxidation for energy production. Because it is released quickly from damaged cardiomyocytes, H-FABP is studied as an early marker of myocardial injury.

Observed MW 15 kDa
Storage As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL
ELISA (capture antibody) 1–5 µg/mL

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat heart tissue, mouse heart tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Recombinant rat Cardiac FABP fragment (Ala2–Ala133), expressed in E. coli.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places fatty acid-binding protein, heart in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (rat): Heart, but also skeletal muscle, kidney, brain and mammary gland. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
